Project Overview

Construction is about to begin to build a new playground at Oakland-Madrona Park!

Thank you to everyone in the community who helped us design the new playground. This update focuses on developing a new play structure for 5-12 year-olds, with complementary play elements for 2-5 year-olds.

What will contruction include?

• Demolishing and removing existing playground equipment, selected sections of playground curbing, and portions of existing gravel path ways.
• Installing new playground equipment, curbing, and accessible ramps.
• Placing new engineered wood fiber (EWF) surfacing throughout the play area.
• Constructing approximately 1,756 square feet of cement concrete plaza and sidewalk.
• Installing new site furnishings, including park benches.
• Modifying irrigation layout as needed to accommodate improvements and restore all disturbed areas with seeding at the park.

Meet your New Playground

Voting was open online November 18 - December 15, 2024. Each of the designs were inspired by input that park users and neighbors provided in August. Option 1 below was the winning design selected by community!
